Curriculum Aims

The aim of The Beacon School is that each student will achieve the highest standard of excellence in every aspect of school life.

General Principles

  • The Beacon School will provide a healthy, safe and enjoyable learning environment in which students can acquire the knowledge, values, skills and experience, which will equip them to become responsible, confident and successful citizens.
  • The Beacon School will provide a broad and balanced programme of studies to suit every student by providing a range of courses and wider experiences to enable each student to achieve their potential.
  • The Beacon School stresses the importance of good examination results as a reflection of the hard work and commitment by each student whilst valuing and rewarding all forms of progress.
  • The Beacon School will promote in all students an understanding of the multi-cultural nature of society, to foster respect for different religions, beliefs and ways of life.
  • The Beacon School expects that parents will regard the education of their children as a co-operative venture and will be supportive to the school in meeting this aim.

Meeting the Needs of all Individual Students

The Beacon School is committed to providing a rich education for students of all abilities. We value all our students and aim to cater for their individual needs so that children of all abilities can flourish. We encourage all students to strive for excellence and celebrate achievement in every field. Each Faculty aims to provide careful differentiation for both less able and more able students. Students are further supported by a Special Educational Needs Faculty with a co-ordinator for gifted and talented students.
